A group of Alaska National Guardsmen encountered an unexpected wild animals attack situation during their training at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) in Louisiana. According to Military, the wild animals attack, particularly, coyotes, happened while practicing at Fort Johnson. Around four coyotes likely felt threatened and bit the soldiers on their arms and heads. These soldiers were treated for their injuries and released from medical care. Wildlife officials at Fort Johnson shot one of the coyotes and caught another to test for rabies. The soldiers had guns with blanks for training but were not aiming to provoke the coyotes. Military personnel are instructed not to interact with wildlife.
A TikTok video claimed that 14 soldiers had been injured in coyote attacks at JRTC the previous month, as reported. The video of wild animals attack displayed images of soldiers with wounds, but the authenticity and severity of the injuries are not confirmed.

Coyote attacks are rare according to the Humane Society, with only one deadly incident recorded in the past. Preventing interactions and not feeding coyotes are essential measures to avoid conflicts. This event highlights the importance of understanding and respecting wildlife boundaries during military training exercises.
