Tornadoes in Massachusetts landed
The EF-1 tornado, according to the NWS, descended at about 11:20 a.m. at Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, and spent three minutes on the ground before traveling less than a mile. The tornadoes in Massachusetts were approximately 300 yards wide and had maximum sustained speeds of 95 mph.
On Cape Cod’s Barnstable, close to Evergreen Drive and the village of Marstons Mills, the tornadoes in Massachusetts with estimated winds of 80 mph made landfall around 30 minutes later. At 11:52 a.m., the twister of the 2 tornadoes in Massachusetts came to rest for almost four minutes when it was on the ground.
Near the intersection of Race Lane and Osterville-West Barnstable Road, meteorologists reported that the damage caused by the tornadoes in Massachusetts was primarily localized near the center of the track.

A storm caused tornadoes in Massachusetts
Massachusetts rarely experiences tornadoes. Less than six tornadoes in Massachusetts occur in the state annually, according to local meteorologists. Communities north and west of Boston had severe rainfall, which resulted in flash flooding in addition to wind damage. More than 6 inches of rain were recorded in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and rescue operations were conducted in Cambridge and North Andover.
Tuesday morning in Massachusetts was particularly wild, with tornadoes in Massachusetts reported along the southeast coast and flash flooding north of Boston.
