If you know an individual, business, organization or community activist who has made a significant impact in the life of someone else by, for example, opening a new business, creating a new nonprofit, or hosted an impactful community event you can nominate them online here.

The main objective is to continue to inspire, empower and uplift each other

The organization’s website states “The DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia) is home to countless remarkable individuals whose achievements often go unnoticed. The Shaun Jai Project is thrilled to host an annual event dedicated to recognizing these outstanding people for their unwavering dedication to our community. Our aim is to spotlight these entrepreneurs, professionals, leaders, and social influencers for their ongoing contributions to our communities.”

Shaun Jai was raised in Palmer Park, Maryland with two brothers and one sister. Her parents allowed and encouraged her to be as free, creative, and adventurous as she wanted to be. Her passion for helping the community started at an early age. She created a boys and girls club in her neighborhood, using her father’s old wood to build a clubhouse; it was their safe haven. Not long after, her entrepreneur spirit began to grow. She sold newspapers, collected and sold used books, and opened a candy store. One of her biggest accomplishments as a child was achieving the Girl Scouts of America highest award “The Gold Award.” She has continued on a path of bettering the world around her and inspiring others. She wants to recognize others who do the same.

There will be an awards gala in March 2024 for winners.
