Arrest and Felony Charges in High-Value Golf Gear Theft at Troon North Golf Club

A 31-year-old Scottsdale man, identified as William Reel, has been arrested and charged with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of golfing equipment. According to FOX10 Phoenix, the alleged crimes took place at the prestigious Troon North Golf Club in north Scottsdale, and Reel now faces three felony counts in connection with these incidents.

According to local law enforcement, the thefts occurred last month at the Troon North Golf Club, located near 103rd Street and Dynamite Boulevard. Reel is accused of unlawfully accessing a storage room restricted to employees and making off with two golf bags belonging to guests. The stolen equipment is estimated to be valued at a staggering $9,000.

Evidence Mounts in Troon North Golf Club Theft Case

Crucial evidence in the case includes surveillance footage that captured Reel in the act. After his initial visit to the Troon North Golf Club, Reel returned, only to be confronted by alert employees who managed to obtain his license plate number. Authorities arrested him during a traffic stop in Scottsdale on September 5 while he was driving his parents’ Mercedes SUV.

Further investigation of Reel’s apartment yielded incriminating evidence, including empty Troon North Golf Club rental bags, golf bags with people’s name tags, and a name tag belonging to one of the alleged victims in the center console of the SUV. Although Reel admitted to possessing additional empty golf bags found near dumpsters, he claimed not to own any golf sets.

At a recent court appearance, Reel was released on his recognizance but was given strict instructions, including not returning to the crime scene, avoiding contact with any employees or victims, refraining from drug use without a valid prescription, and not driving without a valid driver’s license. Reel is scheduled to appear in court again in two weeks as the investigation unfolds.
