NYC Doctor Who Said Israelis Killed by Hamas Got a ‘Taste of Their Own Medicine’ Fired By Hospital.
Dr. Dana Diab reportedly posted the comment on a now-private Instagram account with a Palestinian flag.
A New York City emergency doctor was fired over a social-media post that said Israelis got a “taste of their own medicine” when they were slaughtered in the Hamas terror attack that ignited the ongoing war .
Dr. Dina Diab, who had a Palestinian flag emoji on her now-private Instagram account, posted a video shot during the surprise assault on a music festival near the Gaza Strip where about 260 attendees were killed on Oct. 7, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
“Zionist settlers getting a taste of their own medicine,” Diab wrote, according to a screenshot posted Monday on x, formerly Twitter, by the StopAntisemitism account.
The post by StopAntisemitism, which has since gone viral with 1.1 million views, identified Diab as an emergency room physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.The Northwell Health hospital network said Tuesday morning that Diab was “no longer employed with Northewell.”
“We are deeply sorry for the hurt and offense these comments have caused. These views do not represent Lenox Hill Hospital and Northwell Health and go against our core values,” it said on X.
Diab reportedly defended herself by saying that she’d “never called for harm to anyone.”
“I never have and never will abdicate my duty and my oath as a physician,” she said, according to the Post.
Diab was also listed as an employee of New York City’s public health system, according to a screenshot posted by StopAntisemitism.
The since-deleted webpage identified her as an emergency medicine specialist at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County who speaks both English and Arabic.
A spokesperson for NYC Health + Hospitals said in an email, “We are aware of this social media post and are investigating.”
“NYC Health + Hospitals stands for compassionate, humane care with dignity and respect for all people,” the spokesperson said.
“We don’t allow any conduct at work that promotes hate, intolerance, or any other behaviors that undermine our mission, values, or commitment to care.”
