New York Man Convicted on Attempted Murder Charges for Menacing BLM Protesters Amid George Floyd Uproar

A man named Frank Cavalluzzi from New York City has been convicted of attempted murder charges of trying to hurt Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters. According to Shenandoah Valley News, this happened on June 2, 2020, when people were protesting the killing of George Floyd by a police officer. The court declared him guilty after a two-week trial.

According to the report, Cavalluzzi, who has been found guilty of attempted murder charges, encountered Black Lives Matter protesters in the Queens neighborhood of Whitestone. He yelled bad words and racial slurs at them and wore a glove with sharp blades on it, making him look threatening. He waved the glove with the blades at the protesters and chased them while shouting, as reported. Although nobody got hurt, the protesters were very scared by his actions.

Conviction Praised by Queens DA as a Victory for Justice; Defendant Faces Potential Life Sentence on Attempted Murder Charges

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz praised the verdict, saying it’s a win for justice and the right to protest peacefully. According to AP News, Cavalluzzi might face a punishment ranging from 25 years to life imprisonment for every one of the nine attempted murder charges. The defense lawyer said Cavalluzzi was struggling with his mental health and finding it hard to adjust to changes in the city. The ‘attempted murder charges’ trial showed that the glove he used was a dangerous weapon. Witnesses, like Arianna Agudo, who recorded the incident, were happy with the court’s decision, believing it was fair. This case reminds us about the importance of keeping protests safe and protecting people’s right to speak up.
