Alan Todd May, 58, was arrested by federal marshals while he was in the process of moving into a luxurious $1.5 million coastal home on Florida’s Gold Coast. May was caught red-handed, sporting a flashy Rolex watch and driving a high-end Mercedes, leaving investigators stunned at his audacity as he attempted to settle into his extravagant coastal home. The arrest came following an anonymous tipster’s lead, who recognized May in a published photo at a posh fundraiser in Palm Beach. Living under the alias “Jacob Turner,” May was living a lavish lifestyle, flaunting his ill-gotten wealth in high society circles throughout South Florida. His flamboyant presence caught the attention of the public and ultimately led to his downfall at a stunning coastal home.

May’s criminal history dates back to 1983, with a long list of convictions for bad checks, credit card abuse, theft, and coastal home fraud. Before his escape, he was serving a 20-year sentence for orchestrating a $7 million Ponzi scheme, using the proceeds to fund extravagant personal expenses, including coastal home, luxurious cars, and extravagant travels. While in custody, May managed to steal an additional $700,000 through fraudulent activities, adding to his already extensive rap sheet. The U.S. Marshals Service had been hunting for him since 2018, but his escape was prolonged due to the bureau’s security lapses at the time. It took a renewed public push, with a $5,000 reward offer, to finally receive tips that led to his capture at the opulent coastal property. Now back in custody, investigators are delving into the source of May’s apparent coast home riches and whether he victimized others during his time on the run. Meanwhile, residents in the affluent coastal neighborhood where May attempted to settle are left astounded by the audacity of his actions and grateful for the anonymous tip that brought him to justice at the lavish coastal home
