Drug dealer received a 10-year prison sentence for peddling actor Michael K. William’s fatal dose of heroin

Actor Michael K. Williams’ passing was caused by heroin linked with fentanyl

In accordance with the U.S. news release from April, Irvin Cartagena, 40, also known as “Green Eyes,” previously admitted guilt to conspiring to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and fentanyl analog. In September 2021, actor Michael K. Williams overdosed in his opulent Brooklyn home. He was discovered “cold” by his nephew and later passed away hours after authorities claimed he had purchased the heroin from Cartagena on a Brooklyn sidewalk in the Williamsburg district. According to the prosecution, Cartagena eventually escaped to Puerto Rico, where he was apprehended in February 2022. Sean Maher, Cartagena’s attorney, argued that a heavy sentence wouldn’t bring the renowned actor back before the judge handed down the sentence.

It is stated in an essay that was published by the Associated Press that “Cartagena’s beautiful life was lost, and a sentence of double digits in prison will not restore it.” In addition, “Mr. Cartagena was the one who handed the small packet of drugs to actor Michael K. Williams in a tragic instant. it easily could have been any of the other men who were there or in the area selling the same drugs.”
