The Wobbeking mother-daughter confrontation ended in tragedy.
Mother-Daughter confrontation leads to domestic assault
Authorities in Minnesota report that a 78-year-old great-grandmother passed away a few days after being assaulted during a dispute about her daughter’s unpaid rent. Following the incident on June 27, police in Maple Grove filed homicide charges against Nicole Wobbeking, 49.
A recent autopsy determined that Wobbeking, who had already been charged with assault, was responsible for her mother’s death on July 5, the Maple Grove Police Department reported in a news release on Tuesday, August 1. Sheila Wobbeking allegedly went to Nicole Wobbeking’s house on June 27 to confront her about her daughter’s unpaid rent. According to the authorities, Sheila Wobbeking owned the house her daughter resides in.
According to authorities, Nicole Wobbeking hit her mother in the face before pushing her down several stairs. The complaint claims that Sheila Wobbeking was then beaten in the ribs and hips with an unsealed pasta sauce can.
Fifth-Degree Domestic Assault
On June 30, Nicole Wobbeking was arrested by the police on an increased charge of felony third-degree assault after it was discovered that the victim had a broken bone as a result of the assault.
Sheila Wobbeking apparently experienced a medical emergency on July 5 due to pulmonary thromboembolism brought on by the shattered bone, and police were once more called to her residence. Despite the officers’ best efforts, she passed away from her wounds.
The woman’s death was judged to be a homicide by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has been informed of the new facts, and homicide charges may be brought. In the Hennepin County Jail, Nicole Wobbeking is still being detained.
