Bijou Phillips’ Reaction to Danny Masterson’s Conviction
After the actor was given a sentence of 30 years to life in prison in his rape case on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Danny Masterson’s wife, Bijou Phillips, and the That ’70s Show star’s mother, Carol Masterson, appeared clearly disturbed.
Phillips wore her sunglasses the whole time and maintained her composure. Following that, Bijou Phillips and Masterson’s mother were hurried to a waiting car. Christopher, Masterson’s brother, also came to the sentencing hearing.
In sharp contrast to her response when Masterson was convicted and found guilty on two counts of forcible rape back in May when the verdict was read by Judge Charlaine F. After delivering his verdict, the judge had severe words for the disgraced actor: “Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here,” the judge remarked. “Your actions 20 years ago today were criminal, and that’s why you’re here. Your actions 20 years ago today took away another person’s choice and voice.”
Masterson likewise maintained his composure throughout the reading of the victim impact statements. On Thursday morning, Shawn Holley, his attorney, and guards carried him into court. The Mastersons arrived on either side of Phillips, who appeared serious. Bijou Phillips remained to herself and appeared unconcerned by what was going on around her. She was dressed in a button-down and jeans. She entered the courtroom with a stern face. In a small Irish hamlet, Masterson, 47, and Phillips, 43, exchanged vows in a private ceremony in October 2011. 2014 saw the birth of the couple’s daughter Fianna.
