In a tragic incident near the Tukwila Southcenter mall, a 22-year-old suspect named Derrion Lewis has been charged in connection with the Tukwila mall shooting. According to Seattle Times, the charges include second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The Tukwila mall shooting resulted in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old DeQuan McFadden and an alleged shooting attempt at a 20-year-old woman, who luckily escaped harm. The suspect was on probation at the time of the Tukwila mall shooting, having recently completed a 44-month sentence for two felony convictions in 2019. Due to the severity of the charges related to the Tukwila mall shooting, Lewis’s bail has been set at $3 million.
According to FOX13 Seattle, there seems to be no clear motive behind the violent act of the Tukwila mall shooting, and the victims appeared to be strangers to Lewis. The Tukwila mall shooting occurred in the Chevron parking lot near the Tukwila Southcenter mall, and surveillance footage captured Lewis firing a gun at McFadden and the young woman from the passenger seat of a car.
