Tire Thieves Drive BMW to Rim Ripoff – Cops Say.
BRONX – Who says crime doesn’t pay? Cops are looking for a pair of car thieves who drive around in a $60,000 plus BMW.
Police released surveillance video of the crime in front of the Banknote Building in which a car was left on blocks. Cops not only have clear images of both suspects but also pix of the pricey getaway car.
At around 2:30 am on August 21, two men drove up in a white BMW in front of the Banknote Building at 1231 Lafayette Avenue. Cops said the pair got out of the BMW and proceeded to jack up a car parked on the street. They removed the tires and rims from the car, loaded them in the beamer and drove off.
Police said the stolen rims and tires are valued at $3,800.
The video was shot from street level and clearly shows both suspects’ faces. The suspects are described as males with light complexions and slim builds. One of the suspects has dreadlocks.
