Joshua Garcia, 17, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Abraham Choukair at 8800 Hammerly Boulevard in the Spring Branch Central area on July 20, 2024. Garcia, charged with murder, was apprehended by deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on January 14, 2025, following a months-long investigation.
The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. when officers discovered Choukair’s body in the driver’s seat of a vehicle at an apartment complex, with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts from paramedics, Choukair was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the victim was last seen speaking with a female suspect, who was followed by an unknown male. Surveillance footage led to the identification of Garcia as the male suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued on September 5, 2024.
A 16-year-old female suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed due to her juvenile status, was already in custody as of October 15, 2024, and referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of capital murder.
