According to state records, Robert Chambers, also referred to as the “Preppy Killer,” was freed after serving 15 years in jail for drug and assault-related offenses.

After pleading guilty to strangling Jennifer Levin in New York City’s Central Park in the summer of 1986, Chambers served a comparable period of time behind bars. When a jury could not agree after nine days of deliberations, Chambers agreed to plead guilty to killing 18-year-old Levin.

After being freed from prison for that offense in 2003, he quickly got into legal trouble once more.

Four years after his release from prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter for killing a woman after they left a pub together, he was detained in 2007 for drug sales out of his flat.
