ANCHOR Team Hits the Streets for Property Tax Relief

Local Residents Get a Helping Hand with Applications for Tax Relief Until December 24th.

Morristown, New Jersey – Beginning this week, Morristown residents and others across New Jersey might receive a knock on their doors from members of the ANCHOR Outreach Team, launching their statewide initiative to aid homeowners and renters with property tax relief applications and address any related inquiries about the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) benefit.

This ambitious initiative sees roughly 300 canvassing professionals daily, spreading awareness and assistance related to the ANCHOR property tax relief program. Their primary aim is to determine eligibility, help with the application process, update on benefit status, and clarify frequent concerns or doubts.

State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to have boots on the ground across New Jersey to help spread the word about the ANCHOR program.” She highlighted the program’s potential impact, emphasizing, “About two million homeowners and renters may qualify for property tax relief, and we want to make sure every eligible resident applies for and receives their benefit.”

Residents can expect the ANCHOR Outreach Team in their neighborhoods up until December 24 – the filing deadline for this season is December 29, 2023.

Active from Monday to Saturday, between 1 pm and 7 pm, these professionals will not only be knocking on doors but will also be present at various community events.

To make them easily identifiable, team members will don dark blue vests adorned with yellow lettering and yellow ID badges, signifying their association with the ANCHOR Outreach Team. MAKE SURE TO LOOK FOR THESE IDENTIFIERS AND ASK TO SEE THEIR ID!

For those not available during their visits, the team has a contingency plan in place: official door hangers furnished with vital ANCHOR details will be left behind to ensure no resident misses out.

For those keen on self-service or to gather more detailed information, ANCHOR has provided resources round the clock on their official website, anchor.nj.gov.
