No Bail for Trio Arrested in Oak Brook with Machine Gun, Linked to New York Robbery

No Bail for Trio Arrested in Oak Brook with Machine Gun, Linked to New York Robbery

Three Chicago men have been held without bail after being arrested with several loaded firearms, including a machine gun. The individuals, Jeremiah Dawson, 21, Isaiah Dukes, 26, and Travon Garland, 19, were apprehended after a pursuit. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police Brian Strockis announced the decision, which was approved by Judge Joshua Dieden.

Each suspect faces multiple felony charges. Dawson’s charges include Armed Habitual Criminal and Possession of a Loaded Machine Gun. Dukes is charged with Possession of a Loaded Machine Gun and Theft of Stolen Goods. Garland faces similar charges.

The arrest occurred on December 13, 2023, when the Oak Brook Police Department was alerted about a vehicle linked to a suspected armed robbery in New York. The vehicle, a blue Dodge, was monitored at a shopping center at 2155 22nd Street. Officers pursued the vehicle when it left the parking lot.

The pursuit involved several police departments and a Chicago Police Department helicopter. The suspects were apprehended after the Dodge stopped on W. Higgins Avenue in Chicago. A search of the vehicle revealed two loaded Glock firearms and a necklace valued at approximately $90,000, suspected to be linked to the New York robbery.

State’s Attorney Robert Berlin praised the cooperation of multiple law enforcement agencies in the arrest. He expressed concern over the allegations that the men, who were not legally permitted to own firearms, possessed multiple weapons and evaded authorities during a busy time. He commended the Oak Brook Police Department for their diligence and dedication to public safety.
