No arrests made yet, incident is still under investigation.
A man from New York was found dead in a pool of blood in an apartment building on Sunday. Shortly after, police discovered his wife and son murdered in a nearby unit while investigating reports that a person may have barricaded themselves inside the apartment.
NYPD officers found the 38-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest in the building’s hallway, according to amNY . He was found on the first floor of the building, which is located in the Bronx.
First responders saw the child through the window of the nearby apartment, the New York Post reported. They gained access to the nearby apartment and found the bodies of a a 33-year-old woman and a 5-year-old boy, according to amNY.
The woman also had fatal stab wounds, the Post reported.
The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. The incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.
Surveillance footage showed the woman at Neighborhood Grocery, a bodega near the building, on Saturday afternoon, according to the Post. The store’s owner, Dahan Ali, said the family shopped there frequently.
“I feel so terrible,” Ali told the outlet. “So sad. She was here yesterday at 3 or 4. She was buying some things like normal. Very nice woman. Her husband, her son, all very nice people. I see them every day for the last year.”
Neighbors told the Post that the family had recently moved in to the apartment, and they usually kept to themselves. The incident is raising security concerns for some.
“This building used to be very good. Very safe. No problems,” Akakpo Kodjogan, who has lived in the building since 2007, said. “Now the people who are coming in, no one knows who they are.”
