NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police released photos Saturday of a suspect wanted in connection with a hate crime after a man, 66, was punched in the head while his attacker made an antisemitic comment, the NYPD said.
At about 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, a 66-year-old man was inside the Duane Reade at 17 John Street in the Financial District when he bumped into an unknown man leaving the store, officials said.
According to police, the suspect then punched the 66-year-old in the head and made an antisemitic comment.
The victim had a minor head injury but refused treatment, authorities said.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
Police released photos depicting the suspect who is described as being approximately 40-years-old, 5’7” and 170 pounds.
The man was last seen in a purple and black North Face jacket, yellow polo shirt and dark pants.
There have been no arrests and NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.
This crime occurred days before an antisemitic assault in Brooklyn Thursday, in which a 40-year-old Jewish man was robbed and beaten while antisemitic comments were thrown at him.
