Introduction
In recent months, most of my articles on the stalwart CVS/Pharmacy chain have related to the company’s November 18, 2021 announcement of 900 store closures over the ensuing three years, which you can read about on CVSHealth.com.
Now comes word that another longstanding CVS location has permanently closed, per that initiative, as a Saddle Brook, New Jersey store shuttered on October 5th.
For perspective, per ScrapeHero.com‘s most recently updated store location count: There are 9,509 CVS Pharmacy locations in the United States as of September 18, 2023. The state with the most number of CVS Pharmacy locations in the US is California, with 1,130 locations, which is about 12% of all CVS Pharmacy locations in the US.
Let us explore.
CVS/Pharmacy, 2023
According to an October 6th report from The-Sun.com, as with other recent company closings throughout the U.S. the closure has seen the transference of customer prescriptions to another location.
As excerpted from the report: The store closed on October 5, 2023, with most of its services being moved to another branch in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The Fair Lawn location is less than a mile away from the closed spot. A sign posted on the store before it shut for good warned customers of the change. “Our store is closing, but we’re still nearby,” the sign said, directing customers to the Fair Lawn branch.
The closure was reportedly strategic in nature, as with the others, and based on a performance review. All phone calls are reportedly transferred to the new location. Per the company’s website, the address of the closed location is 475 Fairlawn Parkway, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663.
