Former Oklahoma Undersheriff: Betrayal of Oath to Protect and Serve Stains Profession

In a published article in  U.S News,  the conviction emphasizes the gravity of the situation, as former Oklahoma Undersheriff Morgan, who was serving as the undersheriff at the time, breached his oath to protect and serve. “Such betrayals taint the reputation of the entire law enforcement profession,” said Edward Gray, FBI Oklahoma City Special Agent in Charge. Attempts to reach Morgan’s attorney, Ben Hilfiger, for comment on the punishment were unsuccessful as of Thursday.

Morgan, the former Oklahoma Undersheriff, was sentenced to jail in November 2022 after pleading guilty to one count of deprivation of rights under color of law. This development is a significant step toward holding individuals who abuse their position in the criminal justice system accountable and ensuring justice is served for victims of police wrongdoing.
