Hartwig Fischer was the director of the British Museum. Recently, Hartwig Fischer handed in his resignation.
Hartwig Fischer admitted in his resignation letter that he did not take the whistleblower’s warnings seriously. It has been recently known that hundreds of pieces from the British Museum have gone missing under the term of Hartwig Fischer.
After Hartwig Fischer’s resignation, an investigation was conducted due to the missing pieces. Hartwig Fischer also stated that the British Museum did not take proper actions even with warnings from the whistleblower.
According to a published article by Fox News, it was more than two years ago that the British Museum and Hartwig Fischer were given a warning about the missing artifacts. Hartwig Fischer pushed through with his resignation and the museum is now seeking a new director.
A Staff Was Recently Fired
In a published article by AP News, just a week ago, a staff was fired from their job. Legal action is expected to be involved with that person.
