Autistic Boy Still Missing 2 Weeks After Kids Teased Him for Still Riding Bus, Mother Says.
Bronx teen Jason Ramirez disappeared after school on Oct. 4.
For two weeks now, New York City police have been looking for a teenage boy with Autism whose mother claims he was teased by classmates for still taking the bus to school.
Bronx teen Jason Ramirez went missing after school back on Oct. 4.
Speaking to PIX 11 , the boy’s mother, Zoraida Ramirez, said Jason “came home a few times saying the kids would pick on him, because he was taking the [yellow] bus. Or call him SPED, like he’s special ed.”
Ramirez, who is verbal and high functioning, was enrolled in inclusive classes at Gotham Collaborative High School in the West Farms section of the Bronx.
“I got a call from the matron on the bus,” Ramirez said. “She said Jason wasn’t on the bus.”
Surveillance video shows that Jason, 15, actually boarded a city bus — the BX 5 — after classes on Oct. 4. The teen got off in the Soundview neighborhood after five stops.
Jason stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds. He has an athletic build as well as dark brown hair and light brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a dark grey hooded sweatshirt with dark blue jeans, a black coat, and a black Nike book bag.
Police urge anyone who may know where Jason is to call the Missing Persons Squad at (212) 694-7781.
