A correctional officer suspected of killing a third prisoner after killing two inmates was arrested and charged with no bond.

Correctional officer arrest for killing
Following the death of an inmate in Elmore, Alabama, on Thursday, two prisoners and a correctional guard were detained, according to authorities. Following the passing of prisoner Rubyn James Murray, Sgt. Demarcus Sanders, 31, and convicts Frederick Gooden, 60, and Stefranio Hampton, 35, have all been charged with murder, according to a news release from the Alabama Department of Corrections.
For a crime that took place in Montgomery County, Murray, 38, was receiving a 20-year term at the Elmore Correctional Facility. According to the department, he was hurt during a brawl with correctional guards Wednesday outside his cell. Murray was consequently waiting to be transferred to a medical facility in a holding area. At some point, Gooden and Hampton broke into the area without permission.

No bail for killer Correctional Officer
Murray was discovered to be “unresponsive” and was brought to Staton Health Care Unit before being moved to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, according to officials. According to ADOC, an autopsy is being performed to identify the cause of death. Sanders’ contribution to the killing was not made clear by the department. Officials reported that after his arrest, he resigned.
Sanders is being held with no bail in the Elmore County Detention Center. The prisoners are still in ADOC’s care.
