Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m. on 5000 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45).
The victim, a 24-year-old male pedestrian, was walking westbound across the lanes of traffic when he was struck by a red Honda HRV traveling southbound on the freeway. The driver of the vehicle attempted to change lanes to avoid hitting the pedestrian but was unable to do so.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
The 24-year-old male driver of the Honda was not impaired and was questioned before being released.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
