The Governor noted that flags have been at half-staff to honor the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, as required for 30 days. On January 20, the United States will inaugurate the 47th President, Donald J. Trump. Governor Abbott stated that raising flags to full-staff reflects the nation’s celebration of its democratic tradition of transferring power to a new president.
