Piqua, Ohio – The Edison State Community College Chargers men’s basketball team looked to follow up their women’s team’s strong performance preceding their game on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, to post a win. The Chargers came in at 6-5 overall and 3-1 in OCCAC play (3rd place in the conference). Like their fellow female student athletes, they also were coming in off a win over Owens Community College, on December 16, 2023. Also like the Lady Chargers the men had the December 11 – 17 OCCAC Player of the Week Caleb Iheukwu.
Sophomore Caleb Iheukwu would lead the Chargers in points for the night with 15, lead the team in steals with 3, and tie in rebounds with Daviyon McDonald with 9 each. Sophomore Guard Jesse Dixon would score 10 points and hit 4 for 4 from the line, while Freshman Guard Sean Caldwell would drive home 12 points 9 of those being a perfect 3 of 3 from downtown.
The Chargers would end the first 20 minutes of play trailing 38 – 29 to the Schoolcraft Ocelots. Edison State would come back out in the second half hoping to turn things around and mount a comeback to create a sweep for the night of the Ocelots, but this was not to be. Edison State was outscored 33-30 in the 2nd half resulting in a final score of 71-59 with the Chargers falling to the Ocelots improving their overall record to 5 – 5. The Edison State Chargers record would fall to 6-6 (3-1) and hold third place in the OCCAC. On a sidenote, Daviyon McDonald was not only an offensive weapon he blocked 3 shots during this game and 3 assists.

Friday, December 22, 2023, @ Parkland College, Saturday, January 6, 2024, @ Community Christian (MI), and they return home for Charger Country Alumni Night on January 10, 2024 vs. Hocking College at 7:30 pm.
