22-Year-Old Fatally Crashes Into Tree After Fleeing From Police Traffic Stop In Wantagh.
WANTAGH, NEW YORK – A 22-year-old violently crashed an SUV into a tree on the Wantagh State Parkway Wednesday morning after fleeing from a state trooper who pulled the driver over for speeding.
New York State Police say that at around 7:30 AM on Wednesday morning, a state trooper pulled over a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG for speeding southbound on the Wantagh State Parkway, just north of the Southern State Parkway.
According to State Police, the 22-year-old driver, identified as Nattily Soltanian, of Farmingdale, took off from the trooper, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed violently into a tree south of the Jerusalem Avenue overpass.
Soltanian was pronounced dead at the scene after reportedly being heavily trapped inside the wreckage of the luxury SUV.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit conducted an in-depth investigation into the incident that caused the southbound lanes of the Wantagh State Parkway to remain closed throughout the rest of the morning and early afternoon.
