NYPD Searches for Subway Vigilante.
The NYPD released surveillance video of a man suspected of opening fire on a homeless man who tried to rob a female subway rider. The man is seen going through the turnstile at the Times Square station carrying a green B&H camera store bag.
At around 9:15 pm on November 7, a 40-year-old woman was walking through the emergency exit door at the Times Square station. At the entrance was a 49-year-old man who demanded cash or he allegedly said he would steal her purse. Cops said the mugger tried to physically remove the handbag when the vigilante interceded.
According to police, the suspect pulled out a handgun and opened fire. No one was injured. The gunman ran out of the subway station to parts unknown.
The NYPD said they arrested 49-year-old Matthew Roesch for the attempted robbery of the female straphanger.
The gunman is described as a male with a light complexion who is between the ages of 35 and 45. He is 5 foot 9 and 230 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a light green t-shirt, black shorts, white socks, black shoes with white soles, a green book bag, and a green reusable B&H bag.
