Man Allegedly Hits Woman in the Face on NYC Subway Because ‘You are Jewish,’ Cops Say
The attack is being investigated as a hate crime.
A man at a New York City subway station reportedly approached a woman Saturday night on the platform and hit her in the face, because “you are Jewish.”
Police say the suspect randomly approached the 29-year-old victim inside the 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue subway station 7-train passageway around 11:30 p.m. That’s when he allegedly struck her.
The woman, stunned by the attack, asked the stranger why he struck her, to which the suspect allegedly said, “You are Jewish.”
Police say the man then ran away and remains on the loose.
The NYPD released images of the man they are seeking in hopes that someone will be able to identify him.
The woman sustained minor injuries.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is investigating the assault.
No other information on the attack was released, but it occurred while tensions are high in the U.S. amid the Israel-Hamas war .
