The recent June-August period on Earth was the warmest on record as climate breakdown began.
“Climate breakdown has begun”
According to fresh data from international experts at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Copernicus Climate Change Service, the year thus far is the second warmest on record after 2016, when there was a strong El Nio climate breakdown.
The hottest summer on record has just ended, and climate breakdown has already started, according to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
At about 70 degrees (F), August was the hottest monthly average ocean surface temperature ever recorded. The monthly value of the Antarctic sea ice was 2% below average, which was a record low for August. According to the National Weather Service, extreme heat as climate breakdown starts is likely to last through Friday in Texas and neighboring states as well as through the weekend in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States. Ocean water that is unusually warm intensifies storms. Experts predict that Tropical Storm Lee will most likely develop into a “very dangerous major hurricane” by the weekend.

2023 Summer is the hottest record as Climate breakdown starts
The United Nations meteorological service reported on Wednesday that the past three months had been the hottest on record for Earth with climate breakdown.
She said that people must cut carbon emissions from the use of fossil fuels in order to halt the global warming trend and climate breakdown.
The long-term plan that countries must adopt is to shift their energy systems away from fossil fuels and toward more renewable energies. “The long-term trajectory is that as long as we continue to emit pollution into our atmosphere, these greenhouse gases, you know, temperatures will continue to rise.”
