Russia Was Unable to Stop the UN Security Council’s Crucial Work
Following Russia invasion of Ukraine which got under way in February 2022 ties between US and Russia have worsened. Russia gave it their all they fell short. At the UN’s New York headquarters, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield who presided over the Council in August told reporters that the month had been extraordinarily successful. Russia attempted to hinder the UN security council’s crucial work as many of you noticed. Russia are the only ones obstructing traffic. None of us would anticipate similar behavior from a permanent Member of the Security Council.
What is the UN Security Council’s Crucial Work?
According to the United Nations Charter Member States are required to abide UN security council’s crucial work decisions. The UN security council’s crucial work which has 15 members and one vote each is in charge of preserving international peace and security. It identifies threats to peace and acts of aggression, calls for peaceful dispute resolution, suggests means of adjustment or settlement terms and in some situations, may use force or impose sanctions to restore peace and security.
