However, recent seasons have been marred by challenges stemming from a traumatic incident during a qualifying race. The former NASCAR Cup Series champion suffered concussion-like symptoms after a wreck at Pocono Raceway in July last year, which ultimately prompted his medical team’s recommendation to step away from the sport. It’s a decision grounded in his inability to fully recover and return to the 100 percent capability that made him a true elite in NASCAR’s top series.
