Subpoenas Issued to Illuminate Hunter Biden Investigation Amid Lack of Cooperation from IRS and Justice Department, AP News Reports
Despite earlier attempts at obtaining voluntary testimony from the IRS and the Justice Department, no cooperation has been received. As a result, subpoenas were issued to shed light on the truth. According to AP News, Jordan and Smith have emphasized their commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in the investigation. The appointment of U.S. Attorney David Weiss as the special counsel in charge of the Hunter Biden investigation by Attorney General Merrick Garland has sparked renewed interest in the case.
The four subpoenaed officials hold key positions within the IRS and FBI:
- Michael T. Batdorf—IRS’ director of field operations;
- Thomas J. Sobocinski—FBI special agent in charge
- Darrell J. Waldon—IRS special agent in charge
- Ryeshia Holley—FBI assistant special agent in charge
The White House and the Justice Department have chosen not to comment on the subpoenas currently, with the latter citing a policy against addressing congressional inquiries during the ongoing Hunter Biden Investigation. This development follows earlier efforts by Republican leaders to secure interviews with numerous government employees, highlighting their commitment to upholding transparency and accountability.
