Land Reclamation Projects On Halt

Land reclamation projects have been going on in Manila Bay, Philippines for quite some time now. But recently, Pres. Marcos ordered all 22 reclamation projects to be put on indefinite suspension.

These land reclamation projects are greatly criticized by many when it was announced as a plan. Although it has been said that these land reclamation projects are made to help Manila Bay.

A reason for the halt of the land reclamation projects was to give way for other environmental studies. The US also expressed its worry about the land reclamation projects especially with a Chinese company participating.

According to a published article by The Journal Record, all land reclamation projects will be under review from now on. Oceanographers, climate change experts, and geologists are all approved by the administration to conduct a study in line with the land reclamation projects.

South China Sea’s Militarized Island Bases

In a published article by WDTN.com, the US expressed their worry because of a Chinese company participating in the above-said project for the Philippines. Due to the fact that the company was the one who built militarized island bases in the South China Sea which is still being fought between the Philippines and China.
