Severe Weather and Intense Heat Continue Across the Wiregrass

DOTHAN, ALA. — After a day of scattered to widespread severe thunderstorms across the Wiregrass, the risk isn’t over yet. Overnight storms remain possible, and the region stays under heightened alert heading into Thursday.

Severe Weather Outlook:

  • Thursday brings a Level 1 ‘Marginal Risk’ for severe weather across much of the Southeast, including Wiregrass counties.
  • Ongoing activity in Georgia may move into Southeast Alabama by early Thursday morning.
  • A Level 2 ‘Slight Risk’ remains in effect, with 60 mph wind gusts and small hail as the primary threats.

Heat Advisory:

  • Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s Thursday before storms potentially bring temporary relief.
  • The combination of heat and humidity will make conditions especially uncomfortable and potentially dangerous for outdoor activity.
