Last week, security cameras captured a dramatic encounter between a dog and a full-sized black bear as they came face to face inside a California home.
Zoë Cadman, a Monrovia resident, shared a video on social media of a large bear roaming around her backyard before entering her home shortly before midnight on June 14.
The uninvited guest is seen sniffing around Cadman’s kitchen before being confronted by the homeowner’s 17-year-old dog, Doodle, according to KTLA.
While Cadman awoke in the middle of the night to find the black bear wandering around her kitchen, she said Doodle was the one who eventually sprang into action and chased the predator out of the house, according to KTLA.
Security footage shows Doodle barking and growling at the large bear as it investigates the domesticated animal.
Doodle is then seen walking out of the room, with the bear following suit.
“Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to discover a bear going through your refrigerator! “Just ten feet from your bed!” Cadman wrote a Facebook post. “No, I did not grab my phone. I apparently roared and dashed out the front door. “Brave Doodle saved the day.”
A black bear crashed through the ceiling of a Kentucky home earlier this year, giving homeowners a similar surprise. Officials believe the bear climbed a ladder and squeezed into the attic before crashing down into the kitchen.
Fox News Digital requested comment from Zoë Cadman and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, but they did not respond immediately.
