Panama City Police: A 20-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder following a brick/gun ambush

PANAMA CITY— According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Panama City Police Department, a woman was arrested on a charge of attempted murder following an ambush at the intersection of 14th Street and Mercedes Avenue on June 15.

The defendant, Krista Brashanti Moneymaker, is 20 years old. The victim is a 19-year-old woman.

According to the affidavit on file with the Bay County court clerk, Moneymaker persuaded the victim to meet her at midnight by contacting her via a fake Facebook account. According to the affidavit, the women have been in an ongoing dispute.

Moneymaker claimed to be unable to locate the victim’s home. She asked the victim to walk to the nearest intersection and drop a pin to indicate her location.

Moneymaker jumped out of the bushes and threw a brick at the victim as she approached the intersection. According to the affidavit, Moneymaker fired her gun at the victim three times while she was running back to her home, but all three shots were missed.

The victim returned home safely and contacted law enforcement.

Moneymaker has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm on public or residential property. The court clerk’s website states that the arraignment will take place on July 17.
