A Three-year-old Toddler Was Shot and Seriously Injured Inside Their House

Police say a 3-year-old Colorado toddler was badly injured in a shooting at a residence in Aurora. The incident occurred on Monday morning after 10 a.m. near the intersection of East Exposition Avenue and South Sable Boulevard.

According to Aurora police spokesman Agent Matthew Longshore, the mother of the child, who was previously presumed to be four years old, told investigators she heard a gunshot and raced inside her house to locate the injured youngster.

“We do not believe it was self-inflicted,” Longshore stated.

Longshore stated that the child’s father, as well as others, were present when the shooting occurred. After the first responders arrived, the father had left the house.

“We have officers that are searching for that man now to question him to figure out what his involvement is and why he decided to leave,” according to him.

Longshore stated at an early afternoon news conference that the father is not a suspect in the shooting.

At the same moment, the child’s grandmother was rushed to the hospital due to a medical condition.
