A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Thursday

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch Thursday afternoon for Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, and Philadelphia counties, which will last until 9 p.m. New Jersey has 16 counties, including Camden, Mercer, and Gloucester.

At 3:56 p.m., the NWS reported severe thunderstorms moving east at 25 mph along a line extending from Manheim to Millersville in Lancaster County to Stewartstown in York County. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for those counties.

The storms brought 60-mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail.

Heat advisories for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties issued yesterday have been extended until 8 p.m.
