According to local police, a man in Florida was run over and killed while seeking shelter from a storm beneath a vehicle in a parking lot.
Daniel Hodge, 53, was killed early Monday after hiding beneath a parked vehicle to avoid the rain. ClickOrlando reports that police are not pursuing criminal charges against the driver in connection with Hodge’s death.
“The investigation into Daniel J Hodge’s death, which occurred on Monday, June 16, 2025, has concluded. “No criminal charges will be filed in this incident,” police said in a statement.
According to police, Hodge climbed beneath a commercial vehicle overnight on Sunday and Monday.
About an hour after she slipped under the vehicle, the driver arrived and loaded her into the vehicle. The driver drove out of the parking lot, unaware that Hodge was hiding beneath the vehicle’s trailer.
According to police, Hodge died as the vehicle drove away from the parking lot.
Another tragic accident on a Florida highway had killed someone two days before.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old man attempted to run across the Florida Turnpike in Orange County on Saturday and was hit by two vehicles.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. near SR 417, according to state troopers. According to reports, the man sprinted from the woods into the Turnpike’s southbound lanes. He was hit by a Toyota Highlander and a Chevrolet Silverado, according to FOX 35.
The man was from Hollywood, Florida. Police have not released his name or explained why he rushed out into busy turnpike traffic.
