A boat capsized in California, killing six people and injuring two others, and the Coast Guard is searching for two more people.
According to a statement from the United States Coast Guard, six people were killed Saturday afternoon when a boat capsized near D.L. Bliss State Park at Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City, California.
According to the Coast Guard, an additional two people were injured and taken to a local hospital, and the agency is looking for two more missing people.
The incident occurred on Saturday at 3 p.m., after law enforcement agencies received a report of ten people in the water, prompting the Coast Guard to dispatch a response crew to the scene.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook that search operations would resume Sunday morning. The sheriff’s office stated that it will not reveal the identities of those who died in the incident until their families are notified.
The 27-foot gold Chris-Craft boat reportedly capsized due to a large swell.
The Coast Guard reported winds of just over 34 mph and a swell of 6-8 feet.
The two injured people’s current condition is unknown.
According to SouthTahoeNOW, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports from boaters about weather conditions on Saturday.
